Product description:

The Loctite 7202 Marine Chocking is a two-component epoxy primer that has been approved by the Lloyd Registry of the US Offices. It is recommended for installing main drive motors and other devices. Thanks to its high compressive strength it withstands maximum loads.

Benefits:

  • Withstands temperatures up to 121 C (250oF)
  • It does not shrink, chemically resistant
  • Non-solvent vibration resistant epoxy
  • Self-leveling, it reaches hard to reach areas; versatile application.

specifications:

  • American Ship Bureau - 93 - JE3Y30 - 204

Typical applications:

  • Deposition of main engines
  • Deposition of drive motors
  • Deposition of winches, cranes and deck equipment.

Surface preparation:

  • At least 24 hours before pouring the mortar, store at 15oC to 25oC (60oF to 78oF).
  • To ensure complete spreading of the mortar, the temperature of the foundation slabs and machines must be at least 15oC (60oF).
  • After positioning the machine in the appropriate position, side and back the sides for a mortar of 25 to 32 mm. To be sure, check the light with a flashlight. If a thicker layer is needed, pour the mortar several times. Every time let the previous layer set and cool down. The next spout should be made within 12 hours of the previous layer being poured.
  • To the front edge of the foundation slab, attach a universal sealing tape that will keep the excess mortar to prevent cracks.
  • To facilitate the removal of the mortar for re-deposition, a release agent or fat should be applied to the prepared areas and on the protruding anchors.
  • Using a steel angle, fasten the front shuttering board so that it protrudes a minimum of 12.5 mm above the foundation. Position the dams at a distance of 16 to 19 mm from the edge of the base plate.

Mixing:

  • Check the temperature of the Marine Chocking mortar and the foundation slab.
  • Pour the entire contents of the can with the hardener into a resin can and mix with a high power mixer for at least 5 minutes. Mix with moderate speed to prevent the mortar from spinning, which could lead to entrapment of air in it. If this happens, leave the product mixed for 3-5 minutes to release the air.

application:

  • Drain the mortar to one corner to facilitate the departure of air and ensure good contact with the contact surface. At 25 ° C (77 ° F), the pot life is about 10-15 minutes.
  • Before tightening the screws and checking the alignment, the mortar should cure according to the following times:
- 35 hours at 15 ° C
- 24 hours at 21 ° C
- 16 hours at 26 ° C
- 11 hours at 32 ° C

Storage

Unless otherwise indicated on the product label, the ideal method of storage will be to keep it in closed containers in a cool and dry room between 8 ° C and 28 ° C (46 ° F to 82 ° F).
The optimal storage temperature is the lower half of this range. The remaining material should not be placed back in its original container, as the product may become contaminated. Further information on the shelf life of the product can be obtained from your local Technical Service Center.
